The director undoubtedly has talents and potentials, but the documentary was quite sub-standard for such a sensitive topic. It's amateurish and biased and on at least a couple of instances quite unethical. Amateurish in the use of different quality cameras, amateurish in the editing where words and visuals contradicted each other (thereby misleading the viewers or misrepresenting the interviewees), amateurish in the logic of the beginning teaser/hook and overall narrative. Even the title is misleading (as it appears on Shiatv at present). The documentary does not cover 'the history of Shias in Pakistan’. The documentary is biased on several counts. It reductively represents other political positions and highlights their contradictions to favor a particular camp, which is not free of its contradictions and deficiencies either. Moreover, why were the representatives of the three political camps of the 'khat' chosen to tell the history of Shias or their struggles? Have these representatives all done research on that history? How many of them were even old enough and active in any considerable way to justifiably comment? Lastly, it was quite unethical to use what appears to be off the record footage of the Tehran-based researcher. Similarly, the brief footage of a MWM leader recording a speech in close proximity to another camera crew, what was the point of adding that? To insinuate the idea of plasticity? Or what? Many other points could be made, but these should suffice for now.
